Well, regardless of everything else you should take a new pet to the vet immediately. If you have other pets at home I wouldn't even introduce a new one without stopping off at the vet first.
Where did you get this dog from? Pet store? Back Yard breeder? Shelter?

Generally, the excitement and car ride together will give a new dog diarreah. When I got my basset about 5 months ago, I was forwarned. I was told if it didn't subside in a few days, to go to the vet. Just make sure he has plenty of water and food. The lady's husband I got my basset from was a vet, he said to give Lulu a spoonful of pepto bismal and it would subside...that worked too.

He needs to go to the vet. It's possible he has a virus that he contracted from another animal. He may need meds to clear up his problem. He should be seen by a vet anyway. He is just a puppy. You need to make sure he is healthy. Wouldn't you take your 6 month old child to the Dr. He needs to go.

Take him in immediatley. Labs are on of the breeds that seem to be more suceptable to Parvo. It sounds like it could be parvo. Has he had his shots? Take him in now!!! Before you have to have major expenses to treat him. Good luck!
It could just be nerves but if there is an awful smell (metallic sort of) and blood in the diarrhea it is probably parvo or something else.

This may be something serious. Take him to the vet immediately. What you are describing could be an illness that causes death (parvo). In any case, he probably needs fluids if he is still having problems. Also, make sure he's gotten ALL of his shots.

He was probally stressed from the car ride, withhold food for 24 hours offer plenty of water, only feed him the brand of food other owner had him on or it will continue for longer.
If you have any problems after 24 hours of fasting. Take him to the vet.
Good luck.
When you do switch his food mix is slowly over time to adjust his stomach no sudden switches.
