I thought it was very interesting that when Penn Jillette appeared on Comedy Central's the Colbert Report he was censored while saying there was no Santa, Easter Bunny, or Tooth Fairy... But he was not censored when he said "there is no god."

It's a show specifically for an adult audience, I'm supirsed that anything was censored at all. More people should be as outspoken as Penn Jillette on issues of reality. Censorship of this kind is just plain silly.

i agree on that to a degree at least. censorship is pretty stupid, especially today where we have so many restricitions we can place on these devices if we dont want children to hear, there are parental codes to unlock certain channels and what not. though id have to see it, it might just be censored as part of the act, cause i cant imagine it would have censored any of that.

It all depends on what group, is doing the censoring.
There is no reason, why those comments, should have been censorded on a show, meant for an adult audience.
If you are a prolific letter writer, to the local nugget, or any news paper, you will soon learn about invisible censorship. They will publish your letter if it is on a nuetral subject, but if it is on a hot topic issue, it usually never gets published, unless it goes with thier political persuasion.
But that is ok, I have sent more strongly worded letters, directly to my own government (Just to make sure that the government hears my opinions), and have recieved aknowledements back, saying that my opinions will be considered in the House of Commons. It does still work.
Why were the Dixie Chicks censored, when just about every night, Jay Leno, gives George Bush a thorough ridiculing? The Chicks were much easier to attack.
The world is in the shape it is today because of self denial, therefore, invisible censorship, damage control.
Do you think when the Official Bible was Canonized, it was censored, then other things were destroyed that did'nt agree with it?

I get my news from the Daily Show and take the Colbert report very seriously. Wow, I can't believe they censored Santa Clause. What is this country coming to?

Censorship isn't compatible with democratic principles. Nothing should ever be censored unless it is genuinely insulting or inflammatory.
