The more co-dependent a person is, the longer the break-up misery. I carried parental alcholism and abuse into several of my early adult years and in the midst of many relationships, I had 2 that took a few years each to fully reconcile my mistakes and ignorance. My experience has taught me that relationships can be great adventures or coping mechanisms. Adventures that end are easier to move beyond than needy relationships that end. I found success when I stopped needing others to cope with my personal misery.

Honestly, i still haven't fully got over my ex. I have moved on and act like i am fully over him but then i just sit there and think what would have happened if we stayed together. He was my first and my first love. It's hard to let someone go not to mention us being together 3 years didn't help! It was the hardest choice I'd ever had to make in my life and i don't plan on making anymore of them! Lol. It could take a really long time to get over that person and then again you may never fully get over them. You may still think about him from time to time even though you are with someone else.

There was only one guy, my ex-boyfriend. He and I didn't have a chance to allow our relationship go it's natural course. I still think of him, but for several years I had hoped we would be able to try again and pick up where we left off.
They say you never forget your first love. I got over this guy when I first got together with my husband. Apparently I compared every guy with my ex-boyfriend and my husband had all his great qualities and then some!
