History lesson number 4... we pulled out without winning the war

History lesson number 5... 50,000 Americans died for basically nothing.

Hey Aviator, Don't base it on only 1 president you say? FDR (Democrat), Harry S Truman (Democrat dropped the bomb), most of the south in the Civil War (Democrats), Jimmy Carter (Democrat hostage rescue debacle), Lyndon Johnson (Democrat vastly escalated Vietnam without exit strategy)...

The list goes on and on... personally I think FDR and Truman were pretty good Presidents, but the point is that if you're gonna try to pin war on Republicans, you're either ignorant or a liar...

Frankly, I'd expect more from a fellow "aviator"... unless you're not really and just like the name...

Bricks, good points, but about the Ford pullot, I think you'd have to attribute that to Nixon's "Vietnamization" Ford just kinda presided over it by default when Nixon resigned. And blame for going into Vietnam should fall squarely on the shoulders of those who dragged us in there: yes, the worthless French... screw Dien Bien Phu

History lesson #1. J . F. Kennedy was a democrat .
History lesson #2 . J.F.K. did indeed send advisors to Vietnam , pay attention to the word Sparky , advisors .
History lesson #3 . The strategy was simple , accomplishing it was the problem .
History lesson #4 . We didn't win BECAUSE we were pulled out .
That was not because of a democrat being president either . J.F.K. was dead before the Vietnam war .
History lesson #5 . Talk to a vet , tell him the Vietnam war was for nothing .
History lesson #6 . Kennedy stopped a nuclear crisis by making a stand against Cuba and the U.S.S.R.
I don't think the democrats have ever claimed to be "pure" as you put it . I'm not trying to say that they are whithout some major mistakes either , but the Vietnam war was not Kennedy's . Do some actual research before you write this kind of crap .

If you are going to accuse people of not knowing History, you should have your facts straight.

>History lesson number 2... John F. Kennedy was the president >hat started sending Army "advisors" aka Special Forces into >Viet Nam

In 1956, U.S. Military Assistance and Advisory Group (MAAG) assumed responsibility for training the Vietnamese army. In 1956 Dwight D. Eisenhower (a Republican) was president.

>History lesson number 4... we pulled out without winning the >war

Gerald Ford (a Republican) was president when the final troops left Saigon.

>History lesson number 6... Kennedy almost got us into a >nuclear war with the Soviet Union making a stand with the >Cuban missle crisis.

Are you implying that Kennedy should NOT have engaged us in the standoff? What would you be saying about Kennedy if he LET the Soviets keep missles in Cuba?

BTW, yes I'm a History teacher. Yes I teach about modern history.

Kennedy like Clinton was very charismatic and sometimes that is all that is needed to fool many people. All of our presidents during times of war and peace have blundered at times. JFK all in all did the country good even though he was not pure. I think for the most part GWB is pure but he has done some things that may not have great results. Time will tell if GW was a good president. I think JFK would have to be considered good and the other one I mentioned (Clinton) was a total waste.
History or parts of it are covered in school but the areas that are the center pieces of study are not the ones that have the most importance.

Viet Nam was never declared a war.

History is taught but it's definitely slanted. Until recently history and geography books portrayed the US as physically larger than it actually is in comparison to other countries.

So what's new really? History is always wrote with a bias.

What is that saying... "know when to get off a dead horse."

"So the Democrats are not so pure afterall."

Based on your arguments, I think you mean
"So ONE Democrat is not so pure afterall."

You shouldn't use one person as a way to describe a group.
