Start planning right now. Depending on the size reception you are wanting to have, I say check out your local VFW halls or American Legions. Also check in smaller town for ballrooms- those can be rented out for very cheap. Their food and drinks are usually cheaper too.

Hit up Ebay for wedding supplies and Orientaltrading.com for faovrs and what not.

Dont spend a ton on a cake- ask for a display cake which is fake except for the top layer, and have a local grocery store create two grooms cakes (depending on amount of guests).

Food wise, go for more picnic type foods, or have your reception earlier in the day. The earlier the party, the cheaper the foods/locations are.

Have an open bar for a set amount of time, or see can you provide yuor own.

Check with family and friends to see how they can help you. You would be surprised at the talents of others and how happy they would be to help you!

For more help just email me- i would be more than willing to share my secrets!

Depends on how much you want to spend. Hotels are great because they offer a lot of service, but they can run anywhere between 2-5k.
Also you can consider conference centers or recreation centers.
If you want to go the cheapest route, some apartments have those really nice "big" rooms they rent out front near the office area. You have a great scenery (if a nice one is picked) for pictures. Esp the ones with fireplaces.
Next you can use a huge backyard or park area and rent tables, chairs and tents.
Good Luck and Happy Holidays!

A very affordable option is to have your ceremony and reception in the same location. A country club is a wonderful choice, they can provide food, tables, dishes, serving staff, food and wonderful scenery. A historical landmark or park are also wonderful options for a reception.

Call places like golf clubs, restaurants, hotels, VFW, etc..that have function halls or banquet rooms. Ask them to send you information regarding their prices for wedding packages. Once you have a few of them to compare, it will help you get a better of idea of the money you will be spending and also help you narrow down the ones you will get the most for your money from.
