This question was up before but are you KIDDING me? most of the guys in ufc are not in as good as shape as boxers are, and for a ufc fighter to even tackle a boxer to the floor they need to be close to the boxer and a boxer will NOT let that happen under any circumstances, if u put in a GOOD boxer not even an amazing one, they will put that ufc fighter on the floor very quickly, ufc fighter comes in jab jab jab to the head, ufc fighter gets frustrated goes in harder left hook to the jaw, right hook to the body, left straight to the nose, right uppercut under the jaw and its a WRAP!!! boxers are FASTER, HAVE MORE STAMINA, STRONGER WITH THEIR PUNCHES, HAVE A LOT MORE AWARENESS, and do you think a boxer is going to let some hunky guy kick him? put in james toney or jeff lacy with who ever lets see what happens...maybe if u put pretty boy floyd mayweather then a boxer would lose MAYBE...I box and have fought a ground fighter before, my back never touched the ground.....ur Boy J....holla

yes and i want all of you to watch a ufc fight...then watch a reputable boxing fight, see the speed difference see the time difference, see what marks they leave on each other with a thick glove, if it was a thin one like ufc then it would be even worse marks, boxers have something called wrist wraps u could wear it with anything, and as long as you have somethink covering ur knuckles u could punch as hard as you want...

no doubt a ufc fighter can fight... but for an aware boxer to miss a jab thats unlikely...if a ufc fighter were to catch a boxer its true the boxer would be doomed...but its unlikely

quoted from danmarino1970-
"My respects to what is called today MMA. Boxing is a science that involves, physics, distance, range, feints ... and more importantly rythm.. I don't see any of that in MMA. (just big husky guys wanting to win a fight with a Hail Mary) I put my money on a boxer anyday..speed.. speed... speed!!!"
you people must be crazy and that video i saw, both of them were flabby and out of shape, that boxer did not at all look like a boxer...boxer's do have strength training as well and dont think they are not strong either...if a boxer where to flip over a ufc fighter onto his back which could highly happen and unleash a barrage of punches u best know what the result would be.....ur boy J...holla

you know absolutely nothing about martial arts. I'll be polite since this is the first question with my new account (no clue what happened to the old one can't log in anymore).

Takedowns and grappling as many styles that are seen in the ufc work specifically and particularly well against boxing and straight punching in general.

A hook (never mind a jab, a jab is what will give an opening for the takedown) will not stop a takedown and you are not even likely to connect. In order to stop a shoot, you need to deal with the forward momentum.

True, he will get hit, but the boxer will be on the ground and his entire skillset will be negated. The ufc fighter will get top mount and the boxer will likely try to punch at him from the ground. hellow armbar goodbye boxer.

There is not doubt that a boxer is the stronger and better puncher, but that is the point of MMA, it is mixed and striking is not the only game, a boxer would have problems against a muai thai guy because of the kicks knees and clinch. If you can't stop a boxer from clinching, how can you stop a trained grappler or MT guy?

Once the fight goes to the clinch its over for the boxer, there is no ref to separate them, no way to punch out of it when you are taking knees to the chest.

boxing is a great art to add to a skillset, but it is not the be-all end-all martial art. Not when you have more options than just striking, and more than just striking with your hands. A boxer won't likely even get into jab range on a MT guy, a style that is very popular and permitted in the ufc as well.

go to www.bullshido.net and ask your question there. Boxing is well respected there as is MT and grappling arts (most of). Be nice and respectful and you will be recieved warmly. Act like an a ss and they will treat you like one.

EDIT: A boxer will ALWAYS miss a jab against a shot. However even if he doesn't you would be very naieve to believe that he could stop the forward motion of a person's body with a jab. Straightpunching will not stop a takedown.

This is an example of what will happen to the boxer, and it was a crappy takedown too. the boxer would get mounted and get koed or submit with the GNP.

Being able to have a strong punch is easy enough to acquire. Look at Brock Lesnar and Quinton Jackson. They have strong strikes. But when it comes to fighting, the ufc/mma would win 90% of the time. What is a boxer going to do while underneath a guy raining down hammer-fists. The answer is NOTHING. Also, if a ufc fighter gets an arm bar on a boxer, the guy will tap out, or lose that arm. Head kicks and flying knees to the head are way more explosive than a superman punch or a boxers punch any day. And those come with practice. Bottom Line: UFC fighter would win

You are in fantasy land. A wrestler beats a boxer in UFC all day long. But if you asked a ufc fighter to beat a good boxer at BOXING i would think he would get a schooling he would always have a punchers chance. The sports are too different to try to compare. Boxing is only a little piece of mixed martial arts.

UFC will never be more then a carnival show......even if whats his face is getting with jenna.

Pride Fighters would clean the floor with the best UFC Fighters , that has already been proven , and a boxer would not have a chance against a Pride Fighter or a UFC , whats the boxer going to do when he gets taken to the floor ???? He would get pounded , or submitted .

UFC fighter would win. Recall that the UFC started with a bunch of specialists such as Boxers, wrestlers, etc... Who wound up winning? The Jiu-Jitsu fighter? Why? Because they possesed skills to fight on the ground where most fights in the real world wind up. How can you argue with the results? Recall that many of these fighters were world ranked boxers, muy thai kick boxers, wrestlers, karate fighters, judoists, etc.....

You're comparing apple to oranges. I've trained both UFC and Pro Boxers. Styles make fights. If the fight were to go to the ground a UFC fight would win. If the fight was to stay at a southpaw orthodox punch style the boxer would win. You cant really compare.

Is your question complete? I think you are asking, who would win in a boxing match? I would have to say a boxer would win a boxing match between the two. Only if they were matched up in the same weight class, as they do in boxing. UFC style match, the boxer would be twisted into a pretzel.

it's like trying to compare an apple to an orange.

UFC easy.

no disrepect to boxers, but there's not a whole lot you can do if you're on your back getting pimp slapped over and over and over again by a wrestler, unless you're a jiu-jitsu expert.

also, your opposition must of been not very good.

go watch UFC 1.
