No way will it work, for one thing when the work runs out, who the heck thinks that they will go home. We have tried amnesty also, the last time in 1986, that did not work either. So the track record for a guest work or amnesty program is not good.

"Brownies"? A "brownie" is a being like a sprite, elf or fairy. I think you mean "Beaner", which is a much more accurate description (thanks to Carlos Mencia for making this a general usage word).

As far as will it work goes, that does remain to be seen. But it has a better shot than anything else. If we look at employment in this country, we have an unemployment rate of under 5%. If we consider this along with the fact that there are millions of illegal aliens working, too, the logical conclusion is that we need these people to fill all the jobs available. Yes? No?

So, we actually do need workers, and the guest worker program addresses this fact. I think it can work, if we put the time and effort into creating the program, and are honest with ourselves when we assess it for addressing the issues.

It makes more sense than deportation does.

But I also think we need to work on eliminating the granting of automatic citizenship to just anybody born here. This should be changed to grant automatic citizenship only to children born of an American citizen parent.

What I think about the guess worker that Mr. Bush want is a mistake. Is a mistake because the only way it will work is if our borders are secure and there is a system in place that will control when these people come in and the time for them to leave. If we don't have these controls, it will not work and our situation will be worse because then they could qualified for all of the government benefits and the majority of them will not work. And the way that the new Democratic/Liberals Congress, all of the illegal aliens living and working illegally in the USA are going to get amnesty. This is a mistake and we the American people are going to suffer the consequences.

Mexicans are hard workers, and 96% of them pay taxes get nada from taxpayers. The truth is can put up a fence with webcams, sensors??? A mexican will have cell phone made by American company with live goggle maps, and web cam viewing also in the next 20 years to avoid the secure areas. Its chicken and coyote game 21st century style. INS has caught migrants and know thier first names already so we need to be honest here Latinos are here to stay an go as they please. Guest Worker program is a good idea if they register, and prove thiere not criminals. Mexican immigration problem occured before 1980, and working out immigration deal with Mexico is good for long term interest.,

I am not a fan of GWB's whole policy as it applies to immigration. I am not totally against guest workers but before they are utilized all resources here should be used including our own lazy welfare recipient's.
