Does he have his heart set on a laptop? The less expensive laptops are hard for gaming because most of the time the processors aren't fast enough for any of the good computer games. If its just for online games or other things like school work, one of the cheaper laptops will be fine, but if he's wanting good sound, decent graphics and to play good games, you can buy a better desktop for less money than a cheap laptop. Also, laptops usually can't be upgraded and they are more expensive to work on if you have a problem. Another also, laptops won't take the "beating" from a 10 year old like a desktop will.

I got mine from Staples. It's an HP and pretty good quality. I know that Wal-Mart now sells some laptops. I'm not sure how they are. My niece is getting one for Christmas from there and she is 15. I would say, just shop around. A lot of my friends with Dell laptops are having problems, so I would stay away from any Dell laptops.
Good luck! I would check Staples and other office supply stores that sell laptops. Also, if fanciness isn't necessary, Wal-Mart may be a good option (and a little less expensive too).

I'm here in Texas and there's a place called Mr. Notebook. They sell new and used laptops. Good prices. Very trustworthy. I'm sure they ship.

If I was you then I would go to an electronic store like Best Buy or so. Do not try to buy one on e-bay. My friend's roomate tried to buy one on there and he sent the $700 in but never recieved the laptop. Hope this helps.

Ebay, you want something old and used and not fancy. I assume its to play games and mess around with or something, if so, then just go to Ebay, or any store that sells old laptops.
