I want to copy the contents of audio cassettes to MP3 CDs, for which I need a software and guidance as to how to use it. From where I can get that software free of cost?

Audio Grabber is freeware, and will allow you to select alternate input other than you CD drive. As long as you can patch it into your sound card, it can rip it.

You may need to download and configure at least one mp3 encoder. There are links to the encoders on the download page.

Difficult to write all the steps down here, but you can have a look at the following for some guidance http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk/diy This is certainly 'do-able', if you have the patience....
You will need a cassette player (!), PC with a stereo input to soundcard and conversion software.
Note: if you are using a laptop, you may need a USB external soundcard (mine has only a mono mic input – not good enough!) – you can get cheap, simple but effective ones (from Hong Kong) via ebay…
You could get someone to do it for you, there are plenty to choose from out on the web, this type of job is perfect for a 'virtual' studio.
As regards the software, you want 'Audacity' this is free and gets bundled with things like USB turntables and the like, so it must be good...you can also try the free trials of 'Applian' software at the downloads page mentioned below...
Free download of software and complete guide to converting cassette to CD at http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk/downloads.php
Hope this helps...
