I'm hispanic and a few times i've gone to mexico. I find that American girls don't really have this culture of dressing up to attract men while in mexico girls dress nice and sexy Even in little poor towns( which is where i go cause it's my father's hometown). I've also looked at other countries like Japan and they dress much sexier than American women. I've noticed the trend in america, at least here in California is JEANS. i never seen any girls in skirts. So are ladies in America more shy or is it a war against femininity or a feminist movement that they dont' like to dress up? One place where i do see girls dressing up in america is in Church, but that's about it.

Oh wow. Are you sure you live in the US? Go to a MALL, go ANYWHERE. I cannot help you be blind to american fashion, you will need to do this yourself. C'mon, everyone I know wears skirts. And, you are from mexico, so it might not be a good idea to judge. America has there own opinions of fashion, Mexico theirs. You just see fashion differently.
(Was I too harsh? ......)
OH my bad your not from mexico... sorry! wait, ur 27??? I had you pictured as like 16 or something, sorry.

I think you're missing a lot of girls, because most girls dress to impress. I think you're definition of "dressing to impress" is different than the one in America. I consider a nice pair of jeans and a button-up shirt dressing to impress. If I really want to dress up I'll wear a skirt or a dress, but like you said that's usually when I go to church. Wearing a skirt or dress really is a hassle because you have to sit a certain way so nothing shows. But do you see these girls at night or during the day. Most girls I know dress up during the day for work and things like that to impress their boss. But at night they dress to impress guys, that's usually when a girl will wear something sexy or a skirt or something. I don't think it has anything to do with femininity, but with being comfortable. Plus dressing up can be a really big hassle and it already takes us forever just to dress regularly.

i can't speak for any other females out there but...for myself, i worked in a male dominated profession for years where i had to dress that way but since i switched careers, i am so grateful that i can dress like a female again all day instead of just after work and there are more skirts and dresses in my closet than anything..i love being a woman, dressing like a woman and i don't do it to impress anyone or try to lure anyone, i dress that way because i like it..and on another note, i wish more people (men and women) would dress better..i am getting real tired of everyone dressing like teens in school

Lol, yes I've worn a couple of rubber dresses - the first also ended up being cut off (after some very painful struggling) - the trick is to coat your body in talc as this forms a barrier and stops the dress sticking to you - you then use rubber-shine spray to clean off any excess talc. I don't wear them anymore as it's too much effort :)

Over here in the North East, a popular style among the young professional women is a tailored skirt suit, feminine blouse and knee high boots. It's a nice expression of 9-5 sexiness.

Its a matter of comfort. You try wearing a skirt everyday - it doesnt allow much freedom of movement- running, windy days etc. Women have more assets than just their clothes and it is a positive thing to not have to dress for men. If I feel like I am most comfortable going to the mall in sweats why shouldnt I be able to? I dont go out looking to attract attention everyday.

Wow. I ALWAYS see girls get all dressed up with all their make-up, accessories, skirts, high heels, everything god-awfully girly.
I don't dress to impress. I'm just ME. And if no one likes that, then SCREW THEM. (But people like the real me, so it's all good :P)

if you're superficial enough and mesogynist enough to say that women should waste time daily to dress up for potentially meeting a man you should probably go live in mexico permenantly. woman in america no longer have to feel like the property of men therefore, they can dress 'sexy' if they want to feel sexy. not so you can get your rocks off while watching women walk down the street. i hear the red light district in amsterdam is nice this time of year prick.

Americans just have different taste in clothing. American men tend to find a girl with a good figure in a pair of jeans and a casual little top with minimal makeup a lot sexier than some girl wearing tons of makeup, layers of frufruey lace, and ball-stomping high heels.

Hello....:)
What part of Cali are you in??
There must not be many clubs there, or you must not be old enough to go.
If you are talking about your experiences at school, or around your neighborhood, well, in most cases, we have become a casual society, valuing our comfort over nearly anything, when we are at leisure.
When you go to a place where girls and guys are there for the purpose of looking good, and finding dates, well, you will find the experience to be somewhat different, I think...
Namaste,
--Tom
