There is a diverter in the faucet that causes the water to go to the shower head. It sounds like it has come lose or is stuck. If you can shut the water off to the faucet you can replace it. If you are not handy with repairs than use a plumber or someone who knows how to do minor plumbing
Good luck

You may have a blockage between the faucet and the shower head. If you want to "do it yourself" then remove the showerhead, and run a piece of wire through the pipe, and see if you dislodge anything. Replace the shower head, and try the cold water. If you are not handy, or the installation is old, have a plumber check it out. If he breaks it, he will have to replace it.
