What is a dog in your eyes?

Companion? Exercise buddy? Hunting partner? Money in the bank? A burden?

Mine are companions, exercise and training buddies, stress relievers and quality entertainment. Couldn't imagine life without them.

They also are a big dent in my bank account LOL...

Blessings from God. We found our first dog (puppy) at a shelter just a few weeks before my husband went to Iraq...and he was my constant companion throughout those months of being home by myself. Our second dog my husband rescued just the day after he came back home. We "brought her back to life" and got her in an awsome home. To me, my dog is a responsibility, a playmate, a baby, and I agree with you a dent in my bank account. haha. I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world.

Well, my last (and first) dog I had was my brother. I never even liked to call him a 'dog', b/c to me, he wasn't. He was so intelligent, it's as if he was a person. If I dropped something, he'd pick it up for me if I asked him to, and I had never even taught him to do that. The 13 tricks/commands I /did/ teach him, he learned and knew them each within 5 mins... no, really... He did, I timed it. xD Sadly, he died at 2 1/2 yrs old from heartworm treatment. =( Before he went on HT, I started teaching him sign language, and in one 10 minute session, he had already known the signs for down, stay, sit, and come... So, to me, he was the best friend I've ever had, and my brother. He protected me from the bad people around here when we went walking, and I could trust him for ANYTHING. He was a chow/pit mix. He died on March 29th of this year. Now, I have a husky mix who I'm still getting used to. He's a pain, but hopefully I'll be able to trust him and love him like Strider(my previous dog). After all, he's only 10 months old. I haven't had him for that long yet. But, I miss that love....

Best friend, someone to keep me motivated to exercise, someone to cuddle with you while watching TV..excellent catcher for when you want to play ball! Swimming partner. Anything and everything is great about having a dog companion. She is also my safety as I do live alone and am a young female. Shes not vicious, but the bark and size alone would scare anyone off. They are the world!!

To me, a dog is a friend, a partner at work, a guardian of the family and home and someone who brings alot of joy into my life. All that being said, he is never on the same social level as me to avoid the problems that people post on this site.
