It's a pain in the joint that makes me feel like my jaw is out of line when I shut my teeth, they don't line up right. I've felt this pain before, but never this misaligned feeling. The bad pain isn't there every time, it comes and goes, but a dull slight pain is always there when I move my jaw.

What you have is TMJ, (transmandibular joint disorder). It occurs due to repeated blows to the area, grinding or gritting your teeth either when awake or most likely when asleep, and stress. What happens is the joint where the lower mandible meets the upper jaw becomes inflammed; the muscles, ligaments, and tendons. It can be very painful, cause soreness, and dislocation of the jaw. Go to either a dentist or a doctor and they will prescribe muscle relaxers and a pain medication to get you through this rough spot.....There are exercises you can do to not only put your jaw back in place but to strengthen the muscles so it dislocates less easily...First to relocate the joint: place hands, palm side up under either side of the jaw. While trying to open your jaw push up with hands preventing the opening, hold for ten seconds and repeat 3-5 times, (isometric), but allow a little opening so it will pop back in.....this may be uncomfortable, but it will work....after it is back in do these exercises whenever you start to feel the soreness only don't let jaw open at all. Next to stretch the muscles if they are hard and contracted or sore: open mouth about 3-4 inches and move bottom jaw from side to side 10 times slow....This will probably be a life long problem, but if you reduce your stress it will happen a lot less. I have had this for years and the exercises really do the trick, once the initial problem is dealt with, with medication....Hope you feel better...Since it is the weekend you can take Motrin for the inflammation every four hours, this will help with the soreness.....

Wisdom teeth are starting under the gum line? Sometimes that pushes against a nerve ending. Check with a Dentist.

It might be TMJ. You might also try to find out if you clench your jaw while you are sleeping. I have all kinds of problems like this with my jaw. If they get worse you can start to have problems with your teeth and migraines. Look at one of those web MD sites and see what your symptoms are

i don't know the terms but it sounds like you need to see a ear specialist. no kidding an ear specialist. When my mother had a horrible ear infection i saw in a pamphlet about this condition where the bone and muscle that connects from your jaw to right below your ear errodes away. My aunt has it but i can't put my finger on the name of it. Put your finger might below your ear and bite down, you'll fell it

Sounds like TMJ, does it ever click? I have TMJ, sometimes it is worse than others. You can get a mouth guard to put in while sleeping. It can be caused by grinding your teeth at night.
