My 6 months old puppy has been on antibiotics twice for a bacterial infection. Every time we finish the antibiotics, the symptoms returns after a couple of days. The first day is worst, this time she had blood in her urine, then it stabilizes some. She is on her third antibiotics treatment now, while the vet checks for possible resistency afainst that type of antibiotics. They also told me to clean her with baby wipers each time she goes potty, to keep bacteria from entering. Is anybody familiar with this? Comments or ideas? Thank you

I would see a specialist or another vet to check for ectopic ureters or any other condition that can cause recurrent infections.

GO TO ANOTHER VET !!!!!!!!! Something can be quite wrong, so you better get another opinion or tell the vets where you currently go that you want a further workup for the problem!!!

Any time you have an ongoing problem like this, it's perfectly appropriate to take her to another vet for a second opinion. It could just be a tough infection, and if she got better the first time, you may just want to be patient. But remember that any number of problems, from simple urinary infections to potentially life-threatening conditions could cause hematuria (bloody urine), so I'd tell you to take her to a second vet to make sure your regular vet isn't overlooking something serious.

Well I know something that may help your dogs bladder and stomach. I was told to give my puppy plain yogurt, only a teaspoon a day. The yogurt helps their system and settles their stomach. This may help you out...hope your puppy gets better!

Change the diet. Sometimes adding foods or taking foods away will fix the problem.
