Drinking too much water before your kidneys can filter them can cause the water to back up and actually dilute your blood. This is known as water intoxication. It can easily put a person into a coma, and in more serious cases, cause death. More common, however, is you drink a lot of water and while you may not feel like you have to go to the washroom, in the middle of the night it could hit you like a ton of bricks leading to a wet bed because it happens so quickly that your body doesn't have time to react to it.

Drinking too much water can deplete your body of needed sodium and potassium. This is most likely when a lot of water is comsumed at one time as opposed to drinking little quantities throughout the day. Drinking water will not hurt you if you still maintain a healthy diet, drink water consistantly, and keep you water cunsumption to something reasonable - say under two gallons a day.
Drinking too much water and developing a lethal toxicity is more common that imagined. It is the cause of death associated with the use of the recreational drug ecstasy that is commonly used at raves.

It is possible but unlikely since you would probably throwup before you could drink enough.

What is supposed to cause it (I don't think it has ever been proven) is that the water leaches out salts and other minerals the body must have causing major problems.

Like I said though I don't think it has ever been proven though a few years back a woman was put on trial for making her daughter drink a lot of water for a punishment and the girl had died, though there was no proof I remember that the water was the cause.

Seems strange the kid wouldn't have thrownup if she had consumed that much but Im just thinking logically what do I know.

Yes -- and some people have a lower tolerance to the amount of water they can drink. I was actually told by a doctor to cut down on the amounts of water I was drinking when I was suffering from food poisoning, I was getting dizzy and light-headed.... and that was just 3 litres a day.

Many reported cases of death from drinking too much water.

It is only advisable to drink up to 2 litres of water a day, and, Yes you can in rare cases become addicted to drinking too much water. It is also better to drink your water without ice added as you will only remove all the minerals from your body if you drink it this way.

Drinking water is beneficial to you! You should drink about 8 full glasses a day. I would never force water into your system though. I had a family member that would drink and drink and drink water because she did not want to get wrinkles, funny I know.... but she wound up flushing out lot of nutrients from her body and going into a coma/daze for a week. :o/ So water is good! Drink and choose it over other drinks but don't force it!!! :o)

No, you're unlikely to die!! ;) in many situations the only reason you will get a tummy soreness from too lots water is that in case you drink it to rapid. it relatively is going to circulate away tremendously at as quickly as. 7-8 water bottles isn't too lots for an afternoon.

Technically, yes.

If you were to drink more than 70 litres of water a day, your body not know how to process the natural chemicals found in water, from that amount.

It is almost impossible to drink that much though.

If it WERE possible, water would essentially become "poisonous" to humans

Of course not, our body needs water to function. Drinking water will help with your skin and everything else, why would you think of dying from drinking water

Yes. You can dilute the electrolite balance of the body down too far and die.

But, in reality it's never going to happen. You could never drink the gallons and gallons needed without weeing yourself, throwing up, collapsing with stomach pains etc.

Actually yes but it would have to be alot of water and that would be if you dont sweat either. I heard of people doing esctasy and drinking way too much water without sweating normally, and ended up dying.
