I'm making Christmas dinner this year for my entire family. I'm baking a ham and want to know how to make the most delicious, juicy ham they've ever tasted. Any suggestions?

I have found the best receipe is the simplest one, I make baked ham dinners for my family all year long and this is what I use.

Place your ham in an oven safe pan (I use a glass baking dish) cover the bottom of the pan, place your ham ontop of the foil, I baste my ham with a combination of honey, brown sugar and 1/2 cup of coke. Cover top with foil and bake until done, this will depend on the size of your ham on how long to cook, normally I will cook my 10 pound ham about 4 hours at 325 F.

I hope this helps

All of the ideas above are Great!! ( i might have to try that cherry coke one) one thing my Grandmother swore by was Pineapple. It makes a beautiful garnish and it puts Juices into the ham
she would get the rings not the tidbits and she would put them on the side of the ham with marachino cherries in the center toothpicked to it (that held the pineapple in place and looked very pretty) Then she would put about 1/4 C of the juiced from the pineapple, and about 1/8 C of the cherry juice into the pan. If you have a ham with the Fat cap on top always cook it fat cap up, but if you have a spiral ham or other ham without the fat cap, Cook it with the Cut side down (the middle part where there is no skin to hold in the Juices... you would think that Gravity would leak the juices out, but it actually absorbs the flavours from the tray... and the pineapple and cherries are Great to serve with it. This is best cooked on a slow oven for a few hours rather than one on high heat.

This is also great with a pineapple sauce, though i never managed to steal Grandmas recipe for that as she always had it made in advance, or the traditional Yellow or Dijon mustard

Either way, Enjoy! and Merry Christmas

It sounds very simple but all I do for the juciest ham you have ever tasted is baste it in Cherry Coke.
Honestly, I don't use anything else. It is amazing. Just put the ham in a large baking dish and pour the coke over it. Depending on the size of the ham (mine is ususually about 12 lbs.) I cook it about 350 degrees for about 4 hours.
Just keep ladling the juices out of the bottom of the pan over the top of the ham every 30 minutes or so.
Good luck on your dinner and Happy Holidays!!!

This is an easy glazed ham recipe, made with marmalade, garlic, brown mustard, ginger, and other ingredients.

INGREDIENTS:
1 fully cooked ham, boneless, about 5 pounds
1 jar (16 to 18 ounces) orange marmalade
1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons dry mustard
1/2 cup spicy brown mustard
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

PREPARATION:
Place ham on a rack in roasting pan, fat side up. Score fat of ham in a diamond pattern. Combine remaining ingredients, stirring until well blended. Refrigerate half of the mixture. Brush ham with remaining half of mixture.

Bake ham at 350° for about 2 hours, or until a meat thermometer registers 140° F. Brush with the marmalade mixture every 15 to 20 minutes.

Serves about 10.

Juicy ham = dont' overbake it! I love this recipe!

**Best Glazed Ham**

1 (10 lb.) cured ham, bone-in (spiral sliced ok)

Glaze:
1½ c. brown sugar
3 tsp. spicy brown honey mustard
1 (8 oz.) can crushed pineapple with juice
4 dashes Tabasco
1 tsp. soy sauce
1 Tbsp. fresh sliced ginger
hand full of cloves

Soak ham in water for 2-3 hours changing water every 45 minutes. Pat dry. Place ham cut side down in large roasting pan. Score ham in X’s w/ sharp knife, and place whole cloves in scored corners. Place all glaze ingredients into blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Gently and slowly pour glaze over ham, making sure it is totally glazed. Bake 4 hours at 300ºF.. Tent with foil if browning too quickly during last hour. Serve with warm rolls.

My mom always poured a can of ginger ale on it and claimed it stayed juicier that way. I never complained! LOL. Also, when buying that ham, choose one with a nice layer of fat around the outside and then cook it so that the fat is on top. This way, the juices from the fat will go down into the meat while cooking. Works every time! Good luck and don't fret- it will be perfect.

Try this recipe from Nigella Lawson. It is unbelievably simple and surprisingly delicious!!!! You can substitute the Colman's english mustard with dried mustard. It is just as pungent.

4 and a quarter to 4 and a half pound bone-in ham

1 onion, peeled and cut in half

2-liter bottle of Coca-Cola

FOR THE GLAZE

handful of cloves

1 heaping tablespoon molasses

2 teaspoons English mustard powder

2 tablespoons demerara or granulated brown sugar
