It depends on your furniture. There is a chart of complimetary color. Complimentary colors look good together, so you should find a chart and decide which looks good with your furniture. Everything goes good with white, but if your looking for something classy go with blue and white, the light colors are pretty classy, but if you want something else, you should go with red. What ever you do, do not (for the season) put up green and red. PLEASE DO NOT!! They really don't look good together.

I always start with beige walls. Everything goes with it. Browns are good with it. Lots of wood. A beige tone to a brown tone carpet. Furniture that has a beige background. Then you can add your choice pictures and nick-knacks in shades of greens, yellows and oranges. Very country and comfortable looking. Lots of green plants too.
