Yes! A puppy's tummy cannot digest people food. They should be fed a good quality puppy food. Feeding table scraps starts a bad habit and could lead to a finicky eater and potential health problems.

Yes. No dog should ever be fed table scraps. Many dogs get snobby about their own food, and refuse to eat anything but table scraps. Also, scraps are not healthy for dogs; dogs who eat people food egenerally have poor coat condition and are often over weight, not to mention a host of other health problems that might eb linked to it. I know he's cute, but you're best bet is to stick to the kibble.

Yes. No dog at any age should get feed scraps. It is not good for their systems and chances are it will make them beg anytime they see people food. I can't say I never feed mine table scraps (i'll give them carrots or crackers at times) but I do not make a habit of it because then they will begin to beg - and i hate that.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! The puppy is going to become a horrible beggar and annoy the heck out of people eating around it. Not to mention that it's not healthy for their little puppy digestive system! Some foods could actually KILL the puppy. You are not doing the puppy any favors by feeding it scraps!

YES

not only does it start them on the bad habit of begging but it can cause tummy upset - young pups need consistant diet

also TABLE SCRAPS are defined as the stuff you dont want to eat (yucky stuff..like fat, grissle etc) and should NEVER be fed to any dog...
LEFT OVERS are different.. left overs are excess food that you would eat.. but just didnt.. like extra peas, rice, or whatever.. these are OK to feed to dogs OVER 4 months.. but to discourage begging they should be put in the dogs dish seperate from your dinner time.

In the long run yes, and in the short term yes. They need a lot of nutrition while they are growing, the kind they get from dog food. You should be buying him the food to suit his age, and be very careful about the protein in the foods. The more protein the better the food. In the long run, it's hard to have a dog eat dog food when they are use to people food. Dog food is much better for them. Not to mention sometimes in later life dogs can get sick and they will have to eat special dog food prescribed by their vet. It's really hard to switch a dog from one dog food to another, and even worse when they are used to table scraps. Get your pet on the dog food and keep it there.

Remember that cute puppy begging will quickly turn into extremely annoying, hard-to-extinguish adolescent behavior. I would never feed a dog while sitting at dinner - if I feed leftovers of chicken or whatever (no onions!!!) I do it well after dinner, and away from the table.

Yes, it is never a good idea to feed dogs scraps. They will get over weight and not want to eat their normal food.

I just moved back home with my mom... she has 3 poodles.. they get table scraps... my Great Dane doesn't.. all she talks about is how she wished... they wouldn't beg like he does.....think about that.... I know its cute now.. but in the long run.. its so nice to sit at the dinner table and eat without any dogs jumping and whining and barking for food......
