There are so many anti-depressants on the market these days. It's hard to say which one is right. Headaches are usually listed as a possible side effect with most. Some times the headaches do stop after your system has adjusted to the drug. You may try taking the med. in the a.m. instead of the p.m. or vice versa. Perhaps taking it and going to bed is causing the headache. If you are on a start up dose of 10 mg, Celexa (citalopram) usually doesn't really start to do work for about 2 weeks (give or take). Call your doctor and see what he/she says. You can safely take a pain reliever with Celexa. If you just started taking it, I'd give it a few more days at least. (If it's not TOO bad!) Your doctor could possibly prescribe you a headache relief medication temporarily until the Celexa has time to get into your system and function properly.
This is a very good anti-depressant, but if the side effects are too much and do not go away, there are many other excellent alternatives that your doctor can prescribe. It is kind of "hit and miss" at first. Try not to let it frustrate you too badly.
