What is the best way to diet for those of us who have just quit smoking. After 17 years of a pack and a half a day I just dropped them 2 weeks ago, had two days of withdrawls but now feel hungry all the time. Any advice??

Read Allen Carr's book how to quit smoking the easyway. (He just died recently, of lung cancer, bless his soul)
It's not hunger you're feeling, but the lack of nicotine in your system. To fight this, eat three healthy meals a day, limit your snacks, and just keep telling yourself, it's the nicotine. I am not actually hungry.

I started chewing gum (eclipse polar ice) every time I wanted a smoke in order to quit. I smoked for over 8 years & It has been over 3 years now that I have been smoke free. I don't seem to chew as much gum as I did when I was quiting but I notice I always chew gum when I'm driving or drinking alcohol. The hunger thing is really just oral fixation, I think if you try chewing gum or a sucker or some hard candy maybe should take care of it. Good luck! I know it's not easy, but is totally worth it once you quit!

Congrats on quitting!

You aren't really hungry, you are just wanting something in your mouth. Try gum, try chewing on something or twiddling with something in your hands the way you used to with a cigarrette. Giving up smoking is so hard because it becomes so ingrained with so many other habits--talk on the phone, have a cigarette. Have a cup of coffee, have a cigarette. You need to form new healthy habits.

good luck!

Good for you best wishes and continue. I would pick up a hobby or just chew gum or a fruit its the habit of having your mouth occupied that makes you want to put something in and make sure you exercise. But over all I think its great you stopped!

Exercise!!! And lots of water! The water will help with the hungry feeling, and the exercise will prevent the weight gain.

Good luck to you and KUDOS for quitting!!
