I have noticed that. In fact, I used to be one of many who would seek out the Christians "preaching" in chat rooms and harass them. I would question them foolishly and get into debates with them; not to educate them on my beliefs but to ridicule them. And though I am against going into chatrooms period now, because its empty dialogue mostly, I am on the other side now...the Christian side. Funny how that works :-)
The harassment will not stop or cease. So, I would recommend you rightly divide between those who are seeking and those who are seriously reprobate. The worlds definition of tolerance does not include Christians so keep that in mind. To them WE are the intolerant and ignorant ones. We are dellusional. There will be the ones who will leave us alone, but there will be the ones who will not. I have had many debates with militant Atheists who after failing to get me upset over evolution turn it into an argument, which I quickly close the door on. Then there are the "real" pagans, whom I used to belong to and most of which are not as bad as Atheists. There is a huge difference.
With that said, YES, I have noticed. Contend for and defend the faith, but don't argue for the faith.
Merry Christmas!

>> but dont you think that you guys should let the Children of God across the world enjoy a place where we can talk with, and learn from each other
Sure. Those would be located here: http://www.christianforums.com/
>> without bieng constanly under attack?
By 'attack' you mean, what? Criticism of your belief? I know this may come as a shock, but religious beliefs are not, and should not be, impervious to criticism. Just as much as you have a right to believe it, I have just as much a right to question it. This is a Question and Answer board, not a preach and feel good about ourselves without criticism board.
>> if i found a place called pagans and athiests, i would leave them alone.
Yes, but there's no place like that on Y!A, now is there? Religion and Spirituality concerns both pagans and atheists. Atheists have a lack of spirtuality and a lack of religion, and pagans are very spiritual unto themselves. Just because you choose not believe in those beliefs does not mean they shouldn't have a voice here.
>> so why cant you leave us alone?
Because there are such things in the world such as:
- Movements to ban same-sex marriage
- Movements to criminalize abortion
- Movements to prevent proper sex education from reaching the classroom
- Movements to block sending condoms to AIDS-riddled Africa
- Movements to include religious ideas (ID) into science classrooms
... I think those ideas alone warrant my being here!

I agree no one should be chastised for their beliefs however I have found many more cases on this site where non christians are harassed and being accused of horrible things. I also am not crazy about reading every five seconds on here how I am going to burn in hell since I am a non christian.
The children of God on here should be behaving like children of God and not be taking it upon themselves to condem everyone to hell. I mean after all isnt that Gods job?
I have read some of your questions and you do not seem to be like the people I have spoken of above. I was just venting my opinion as to why some hateful answers may be left for some people.
I think that everyone should just practice being a good person. No matter what religion and stop condeming eachother.

Maybe you are a better person than a lot of the so called Christians Mama B.
To address what you have said:
This "place" is Religion & Spirituality, it does not say Christianity, it is open to all religions and spiritual paths.
There are those of us who do come here to learn from others, about their faiths and practices who wonder why we get "answers" from Christians who wish only to tell us that we are wrong and will "Burn in Hell".
Oh yes, there are the militant pagans and atheists as well as the militant Christians who get out of hand. Even I get a bit caught up in bashing now and again, I never claimed to be perfect.
Now if you have influence with Yahoo answers and can get them to set up a Christian only section, I would not go there and would leave Y'all in peace. Until such time as there is a separation, we will all have to go along and try to get along in here together.
And for the record I too am a "Child of God", whom I refer to as the Divine.

This isnt a site for Christians exclusivly. Its for anybody and everybody. As for the catergory, its "religion and spirituality" and one has little to do with the other. Spiritual dosent specify religion or faith of anykind. Although I am not Christian I also think its annoying to hear Christian bashers. I dont think you should be tormented but youll also have to accept there are a wide variety of ppl on here. Some worship satin, some are purely spiritual, some are Jesus loving, ect ect. The pagans, btw started alot of what you believe.

Just when historically have the Children of God shown any such tolerance?
Apostasy is specifically punishable by death in the Bible and is still practiced in the Muslim world. The Inquisition tortured and burned atheists in order to save their souls. Until recently, any atheist track was considered blasphemy and punishable under the obscenity laws.
To this day, believers insist that prayer be forced back into the public schools and that the 10 Commandments be placed in our public buildings in clear contravention of the Establishment clause of the US Constitution
You have a place to talk. Its called church. We don't bother you there. Step into the public realm, like this one and your ideas become fair game for criticism.
BTW atheists are not pagans.
don't pray in my school and I won't think in your church

You will be tormented for your faith? Have you seen how much tormenting your faith does? All the rest of us do is fight back once we've had enough of it.
I'm not saying that all Christians are fascists, devoted to forcing their religion on the rest of the world, but many are. And it's enough of them, or at least a loud enough portion of them, to make everyone else mad.
You seem like a perfectly reasonable person, and I mean no offense by my answer. I'm just being frank.

Wow. This is amazing whinging.
First, there ARE such places - they are called Churches and Fellowship Halls and such. I imagine that there are also on line communities that are set up by and for whichever people you define as "Children of God", although perhaps the entire world doesn't accept YOUR definition. (gasp! Noooo, that couldn't happen!)
But this isn't a church. This is Yahoo Answers, and you don't get to decide who belongs here.
Second, the day that so-called "Christians" lay off butting into questions specifically directed to Pagans/Wiccans/Witches to damn us all to "hell", or warn people off, or tell us that we're really Satanists is the day that you'll get any sympathy from me.
I have stayed away from questions asking specifically for a Christian or Muslim or Pentecostal viewpoint, BTW, but I'm more than willing to change that.
Third, the day that who you'd probably define as "Children of God" lay off saying that atheists are really here because they know that your religion is right but they're just too proud to admit it or any of the other garbage that y'all spew, the day that y'all stop assigning the most uncharitable motivations to people who do not believe as you do, that's the day you'll get support from me.
Bottom line is that you don't get to impose your own definition of what "Religion & Spirituality" includes or who gets to be here.
So get over yourself and quit whining.

I have noticed that, yes, just as I've noticed how those who consider themselves Children of God act hatefully toward those who follow different faiths and philosophies. It's almost as though some people don't really believe in freedom of religion and conscience. Shame. I'm not suggesting that we shouldn't be free to question and criticize the beliefs of others--that's what this forum is for--but must our attitudes be so scornful?

Christianity isn't the only religion or belief system represented here. If you want a place with only Christians in it, go to a Christian message board. This is a place for all faiths (or lack thereof) so you have to expect some clashing. Yours give as good as they get, don't forget.
