This is from cooks.com, but it doesn't have Dr. Pepper. I have also heard of making them with Coke or Pepsi and grape jelly, or BBQ sauce and jelly. Good luck!

Minced onion or chopped onion to taste
1/2 c. milk

VERY VERY GOOD meatballs and it is a really easy recipe to INGREDIENTS 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle chile sauce 2 teaspoons lemon juice 9 ounces grape jelly 1 pound lean ground beef 1 egg, beaten 1 large onion, grated salt to taste DIRECTIONS Whisk together the chili sauce, lemon juice and grape jelly. Pour into slow cooker and simmer over low heat until warm. Combine ground beef, egg, onion and salt. Mix well and form into 1 inch balls. Add to sauce and simmer for 1 1/2 hours.

I haven't heard of the Dr. Pepper and grape jelly cocktail meatballs either, but the hot sauce and grape jelly combination was very popular in the 70s and 80s and my family always made it for parties- it makes great meatballs.
I would use the sauce recipe mom of 2 gave you.

I've heard of meatballs with grape jelly & chili sauce, usually a jar of each. But I've never heard of doing it with Dr. Pepper.
Don't think I'd take the chance myself, good luck.

I have never heard of that particular recipe but I do like to cook and I am a firm believer in not following recipes. I would suggest if you want to try it just keep adding to it until it tastes good to you as everyone has different tastes and no one recipe will satisfy all. Also know as being a "chuck cook" which essentially means keep chucking stuff in until you have the taste you are looking for.
