ive always looked after my teeth, but ive noticed a slight discolouration lately so i wonder if i'm doing something wrong ie:- 'overdoing it' brushing them? (i drink lots of tea so maybe thats another reason) :/
i'll tell you my daily routine and tell me if you think i'm doing it okay?
i'll get up in the morning brush my teeth, (pea sized amount of tooth paste) brush each tooth, then swill my mouth out and do the same again (pea sized amount) and then again (pea sized amount) i'll go over them 3 times spending about 5 mins on it, i use mouthwash also.
i'll then do the same thing at night.
totalling to twice a day, but using a bit more tooth paste.
i do this because i often find just using a normal amount of toothpaste (bushing them once) doens't really clean my teeth all that well, they start to feel groggy after a few hours.
but yeah do you think my brushing is ok? if so maybe just book a scrape and polish at the dentist, as ive not had one for a few years.

I think you answered your own question. Go for a cleaning at the dentist's. Tea is a dye so that could be leaving stains as well. Get something like the Crest Whitening Strips.

You might want to try a whitening toothpaste to counteract the discoloration you're getting most likely from tea. However, it is possible to brush your teeth too often, and you can actually over time wear down your enamel. Brush your teeth 2-3x daily. This doesn't mean 3x in the morning, 3x at lunch, etc... Just brush once 2-3 times a day. Take it easy on your gums!!! Secondly, you should visit a dentist TWICE a year for a cleaning and xrays. This will remove harder to reach build-up and keep your teeth even healthier. Get an appointment today!

I would use Colgate Whitening or Colgate Total toothpaste(not the gel's). I would also recommend using an electric or battery operated toothbrush such as the Crest Spin brush. Brush every morning, after each meal and before bed. I also recommend using a quality mouthwash at least once per day such as Listerine. Doing all of that if you smoke or drink caffeinated beverages your teeth will still discolor within about 6 months to one year. I would advise you to have them professional cleaned but another option is Crest White Strips and follow their instructions.

Tea is a big stainer of teeth. Brushing teeth too much is also bad for them-it can lead to abrasion (imagine combing your hair 40 times day).
The discoloration if likely from the tea. I would go get your teeth whitened. Lots of good products out there. http://www.smileconnection.com/DentalHealth/Braces.aspx
Good luck

Your brushing goes fine but try to go easy on it. I visit the dentist at school once a month. And I brush twice a day but properly. Good luck and does your teeth means everything to you? What has the world done to you?

It's probably the tea. Tea, coffee, cigarettes, and colored soda can discolor teeth.
If you get the whitening treatments from a detist like Brite Smile or Zoom and continue the habbits above, you will have discolored teeth again in 5 or 6 months. Unless you change you habits, the teeth whitening process only will provide short term benefits.

Good dental hygiene includes getting your teeth cleaned twice per year, even with good brushing habits. Start scheduling a teeth cleaning every 6 months, and keep doing what you're doing, BUT you must include flossing once per day.

I think it sounds fine. I brush mine 3 times a day and nothing has happend to them so i dont think you are overdoing it. I would make a denist appt. to get them cleaned. I go once a year for a cleaning.
