My contractor is in the middle of sheet rocking our living room. The parts where he started are fine, but now that he's on the other end of the room, there are gaps as big as half an inch. There are wedge shaped slivers of sheet rock to fill in mis-measured gaps. (Either my walls aren't straight or his measurements are off.)

The question is: Will these problems show up when it's mudded textured and painted? Should this work be redone now, before it gets mudded and textured?

The jobs in pic 3 and 4 must be re-done. Those problems cannot even be covered up successfully with mud.

In other pictures, the big cracks can be covered up with mud and you won't see them afterwards, however like many have pointed out, it is pretty shitty job and you should ask the contractor to redo them.

You have to raise questions. Otherwise this contractor will think you don't care or you don't know, and will continue to cut corners.

This is awful!!! Looks like your contractor miscalculated how much sheet rock he needed to complete this job. Looks like his is trying to piece scraps together so, doesn't have to go out and purchase more. I would make him rip it out and do it correctly. He should not charge you for the redo since he is the one who is doing crappy work.
If he fills these gaps, you are going to have issues in the future. Do it right the first time. Make sure you are holding a retainage so you can guarantee the work is done to code and to your satisfaction. If not, report him to the BBB.
Good Luck.

I can see there being a few SMALL gaps here and there, and things not lining up PERFECTLY but that is just ridiculous what you have pictured there. It may not show up right away, but down the road when things settle, I'm sure there will be lovely cracks and what not in your walls. Hope you get that fixed!

If he is any good once it is mudded an taped you shouldn't notice the gaps or the broken pieces. My brother is a contractor.

I can see a corner cracking here and there, but those gaps are terrible! It is not that hard to line it up right - it will probably hold up after they tape and mud it, but I definitely wouldn't hire them again.

It is quite common if your room is not square to piece drywall together. Once its taped and mudded there shouldnt be any signs. However, in the pics where there are large holes, make sure he puts in pieces of drywall and doesnt try to "fill them in".

That's some pretty shitty work. Gaps like that will probably develop cracks, because the "filler" required will be too thick. I'd make him take it down and start over.

If I was paying for this, I would be very upset. I installed some myself last year, I read a how to book and mine was way, way better work that this. My husband was impressed with the job that I did. I would have him start this job over. Some of this work, alot of it, will be noticeable. You did pay for your walls not patch work. Best of Luck to you.

Your hangers suck the chipped corner and the work around the header are horrible. Have them redo it or pray for great tapers. Good luck

that is garbage there is no way that is acceptable. there should not be any gaps or broken corners. your room is most likely square, and even if it wasnt you can cut the sheetrock to fit
