I have recently bought a T/C Omega. I read the manuel and feel confortable with using and cleaning it. I am not sure what sabots and charges to use. I am thinking Mag Sabots and Pyrodex pellets. But I would like to get some opinions. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I shoot a Thompson Center Encore so my pet load may differ a little. I use 2 - 50 grain Triple 7 pellets and a Hornady Lock and Load sabot. They can be purchased at most any gun store or even Wal-Mart, they come in different bullets weights. The weight that works for me is the 250 gr. The lock and load sabot has a plastic stem out of the bottom that goes through the hole in the 777 pellets thus holding the sabot, bullet and powder charge in one easy to manage piece.
I have shot several different combinations and this is the one that works for me for deer sized game.

However, as many of the earlier answers stated, the only way to know for sure what works for you in your gun is to try several different combinations and hit the shooting range.

I have found that Hornady 45cal sabots with 75grains of powder was far more accurate than using larger amounts of powder. We went from 60-135 and the best outcome was from 75grains. It also saves your shoulder a bit !

As a Note:

Most all sabots are the same, no need to worry about brand so much. Your firing a sabot at less than 100 yards 99% of the time which means the bullet you use doesnt have to be match quality to get the job done. I would suggest setting up target with a rest and start with a small charge like 65grains and work up to the max your gun is rated for. Keep track of the placememnt and fire 5 rounds at each change. This will tell you the same thing I stated above. We have done this with 6 differnt rifles and the outcome was always the same at 75-80 grains with a 45 cal sabot.

The Mag Sabots and the Pyrodex pellets will make a good combination for your T/C Omega. You might try both 2 pellets and 3 pellets to see which works best for you and your rifle. Muzzleloaders are sort of picky about what they like and you just have to experiment a bit to find what your particular rifle likes best. The modern in line rifles are not as picky as the old style muzzleloaders but still require a bit of experimenting to find what give you the best accuracy from your particular rifle.

I agree with BeRotten. I also shoot a T/C Encore. I only use two (2) Hogden Triple 7 powder pellets. I have used 245 & 295 grain Powerbelt bullets as well as Hornady 44 cal 180 & 240 grain HP/XTP bullets. All group very well out of my Encore. It will also depend on if you plan on using a scope or open sights. You might not have enough adjustment in your rear sight with the lighter bullet weights. That is what I have experienced anyway with my Encore. You do need to shoot to find what your gun likes the best.

Power belt bullets are my chose of bullets as far as powders I would try pyrodex pellets. As for a charge i would try 100 grains of powder or that would equally two pellets of fifty grains of pyrodex, you need to experiment with different grains of powder and bullets different guns like different loads;.

Just drop in 100 grains of Pyrodex insert sabot directly on powder. Put on percussion cap or whatever your ignition. Fire. I suggest you take it to the range or somewhere first and test fire it and also make sure your sights are on.
