Some companies don't allow gratuities to be accepted. Check with FedEx first.
If they are allowed, with your scenario, I'd give $25-$50 depending on how well you like him and his service.

There is a good chance that there's a cap on how much of a gift he is allowed to accept. I know Postal workers are only allowed to accept up to a 20$ gift from a customer. I'd contact Fed Ex or check the website to gauge what he's ALLOWED to accept, and go from there.
If you want to forgo money, scratch off lottery tickets are always an option.

I think it might be a little more appropriate to give him a gift, like some homemade cookies. It's more personal and more seasonal than a tip.
