I have a lot of pain under my tongue (left side only) that continues down into my throat besides the adams apple. I thought it might be an abscessed tooth, so I went to a dentist. It isn't an abscess at all. The salivary glands on that side aren't swollen either. The pain is barely noticeable at times, and at other times it is excruciating. Also, if there were salivary stones, they would have shown up on the X-rays. Any other ideas?

I think it would be a good idea to see a doctor - either your family doctor or a specialist for ear, nose and throat. All the best. I hope you will feel much better soon!
