Hi
what you have done is called over installing. It is not recommended. as it can lead to major computer problems.

your best course of action is to remove both windows off the computer and reinstall windows cleanly. (before you do this make sure you have a backup of anything you want to keep.)

the reason that the sound may no longer work when you put windows on your computer is that the software which controls the sound card (the drivers) may not have been reinstalled. you should have received other cds with your computer which may have driver cd written on it which will install the drivers for your system.

you will not be able to use the method of add remove programs to remove the second version of windows. it simply wont show there.

what you need to do to get your computer up and running properly is :
1 make a copy of any documents, pictures, music, emails, videos, and anything else you have on the hard drive which you want to keep. ( this does not include programs.) they cant be copied back on to the pc they must be installed.

Once you have backed everything up
then put your windows cd into the cd drive on your pc and restart the pc.
you should c a black screen with writing on it which says boot from cd. this goes quite fast so you have to watch for it. the screen will do a few things for a few minutes just let it do it. then you will get asked if you agree to the licence agreement

press the f8 key to agree. Now once u have done this you will get the option to repair or install windows. go for install.
you will be asked on what partition you want 2 install windows. before you do this you will see an option to delete the partition delete this partition. then on screen you will have the option to create a partission do this and except the size given to you by the computer.
then proceed with the installation of windows. once the computer has installed all of windows you then need 2 install the drivers for printers, cameras, scanners, sound, video and anything else you have attached to your computer.
