I think it's a Karma thing. When someone does something evil, something evil is then owed to that person. As you said, no evil person can pay for someone else's evil. But if a good person CHOOSES to make the payment instead, the debt can be considered paid, even though the evil person didn't make the payment, as long as they are connected by contract.
The blood of sheep and goats obviously has no value in this situation, except in that they prefigure the true sacrifice that has been promised. [and now fulfilled]

Jesus had to be a righteous person that accepted God's will to atone for Adam, who was also righteous, not accepting God's will. Without this righteousness conforming to God's will and undoing Adam's disobedience then the unrighteous cannot rectify their own situation.

ha ha. Christians are twisted. Some believe all sins are the same. No big or small. If a 2 yr old child steals a cookie, he has the same punishment as hitler. Seriously. Check out my questions.

Ours is not to question why, The bible tells us God wants blood sacrifice because God loves the sweet smell of burning flesh. We must do what he wishes.

monotheistic god has always been a god who requires blood sacrifice and/or burnt offerings.
Christians merely believe that his need for blood was satisfied with one, final human sacrifice.
They also sing songs about being "washed in blood", etc....
