Is he licking himself a lot? If so then he probably needs his anal glands cleaned out. Take him to the vet and he can show you how to do it yourself. I have tried to do it myself but it can cause some pain to the dog (as you can imagine) so I just let my vet do it. It doesn't cost much and usually last awhile. My oldest dog had to have it dog frequently as a puppy but as she got older it got better.

you should take the dog to the vet. in humans the metallic smell usually means there is problem in their diet. you may want to change diet slowly.

When my dog has this problem, the anal glands have to be expressed. Just pinch around the anus and squeezed it out of the dog
