They aren't allowed to accept gifts valued at more than 20$. I know a lot of people who give gloves and/or hats, but since a LOT of people give that, you might not want to. He probably already has 15. Maybe lottery tickets?

Wouldn't it be nice if we could give them something to show our appreciation? Unfortunately, Federal laws prevent federal employees from accepting any monetary gifts, donations, etc. We can give them cards though, as well as homebaked goods, gifts under $20 are sometimes ok (depends on the state), and gifts that are homemade are a safe bet. Anything else is pretty much a no-go.

How sweet of you to think of others this time of year. Use your heart honey, you'll come up with something.

Yes, we all know US government employees cannot accept tips, blah..blah...blah...

A christmas card with $10.-20.00 depending on the service you got this year would do.

Thank you for remembering... as for the rest of you -- dont forget your newspaper route person, too. They hardly make the gas money they put out or if its a child, remember they do come out in all weather.

I know of many people that tip like 5 bucks. But I don't. I live in Canada and have never heard that you aren't allowed to tip, that must be just in the US.

My mom is a mail carrier in a rural area. She receives sweet homemade gifts, like banana bread (YUM) and peanut brittle (more YUM). And it is true that federal employees are not allowed to accept monetary gifts. Cookies or a mug with coffee or hot chocolate packs is nice too!

Hello George Bitar here,

US postal carriers are not allowed to accept tips, however etiquette suggests a gift of under $20 is appropriate.

Thanks,

George Bitar

No monetary gift is allowed. How about a gift card for a show. The amount needs to be under 20 bucks. It is illegal for a postal worker to take cash. Peace out.

Do you know how much a mailperson makes? We always gave cookies or candies to the mailpeople.

I heard on TV that government officials can't accept tips. They suggest giving a card to them instead.

Not a friggin thing.

All that guy does is bring you bills every day. He has the weekends and holidays off, even made up holidays off.

Why are you going to tip someone whose just doing thier job. That's the dumbest thing I ever heard.
