I don't believe in hell, but many people have told me this is where I will end up. Do you take joy in the thought that the "wicked" will be sent to hell, at least according to your religion? Just curious.

no...don't listen to those people. they aren't real Christians. it is not their place to condemn anyone or judge.

Anyone who knew a great deal about Christians or Christianity would see the preposterous nature of a question like this.

Let it be said that, yes, there are certain evangelical extremists who literally believe that anyone not denominationally affiliated with a correct form of Christianity will go to Hell. But even in the case of those believers, few "enjoy" the idea of people in hell. It is in fact their distaste for hell that compels them to evangelize - their very real fear for others is their motivation for proselytizing. They are, in their view, trying to save lives.

But let it be further said that most Christians do not subscribe to this Manichean vision. I would note simply that Jesus said, "I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. These also I must lead, and they will hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd." John 10:16

This saying has to admit the possibility that on the day of the final role call, Christians may be surprised to learn who stands with the lambs, and who with the goats. My belief is that Jesus gets to make that call.

A good and just God is not going to condemn a person of good will who, for whatever reason, was not able to come to the fullness of truth and the knowledge of salvation. Such a God would be a monster, and that is not the gentle saviour who asks us to have childlike faith.

So I don't dwell on the question of anyone's salvation but my own. I'm the only person who's salvation I can influence, and even then, I still depend on him for the answer to that! :-)

I am a christian, but that does not mean that we or ANYONE else has the right to find joy in others mistakes.I have friends, and have had boyfriends from other religions as mine, but I did not discriminate against what they believe nor did I try to force my belief on them.I would not want them to do that to me.Look, I don't know what your idea is of a Christian, but your way off.
A true believer in God, his sun and the holy spirit does not have the right to judge others, we try to leave that up to God even though we are only human at he end of the day and do make mistakes too.
And for the whole eternal hell thing, I do not wish that upon my worst enemy.

Not all Christians would believe that statement. There are denominations that believe in a universal salvation irrespective of belief. There even more Christian denominations that simply deny a tradtional version of hell or the devil/satan, where evil is the manifestation of free will of humankind used toward selfish purposes.

For me, salvation is the reconciliation with the divine and hell, if you chose to use that term, is the separation from the divine. Thus, it is your choice to be "Saved" or "Damned".

I don't think everyone who opposes my religion is necissarly "wicked" enough for hell. I mean most people are trying to do the best they can with what they think is right, and that God judges us based on what we know, so I guess I don't even really think of them being in Hell.

If you care to study religion, you'll notice that there is, for 99% of them, there is some kind of damnation for not following it's path. Even reincarnation has a dark side. It seems that the God-fearing religions (with the exception of Judaism) are more vocal. Christianity and Islam are very vocal in their belief and views.

Absolutely. I take joy in all God's works. And casting people into Hell is a big one, along with causing wars, and just generally killing people in the first place. This isn't a game of tiddly-winks we're playing here!

No. I actually cry when I think of so people going there. That is why I pray for the lost and try to witness to them.

It is your choice to believe in God or not to. But if you don't you will go to hell.

I don't believe in Hell. And Hell is referred to Sheol the common Grave of Mankind, which means when you die sin full or otherwise you go 6ft under that's it. And if we serve a God of Love why would he want to torment us in Hell fire. If he merciful, kind, just and loving?
