Stop worrying about saying something embarrassing, because eventually it'll happen, even in English it'll happen :) Start listening to the music and sing along! Get to know someone from a spanish speaking country and practice, practice practice! Speak a little everyday, even if you have to talk to yourself for a while..

Find yourself someone who speaks the language fluently. I took spanish all through my highschool career and learned more conversational spanish working at a Mexican food resturant for a year than four years of espanol.

I feel ya! lol, this is my 3rd year and i'm not fluent YET. I'd say use the Rosetta Stone software! I heard it was the FASTEST and most effective way to help you learn a language! You can always practice it everyday with someone that knows the language. well anyways, buena suerte! lol

PS. And to learn about how to act and what-not, you can always go to www.cyborlink.com, they tell u amazing facts about etiquette in different countries that you won't believe!

Move to any of the three states that have a Hispanic majority- then whenever the person behind the counter doesn't understand what you are saying, you could use your bestest Spanglish.

expect to make embarrassing mistakes. It is part of the process.

I once asked a man for his penis when I was trying to say "How do you do" in Arabic.

A friend of mine was describing jelly to Italians and told them it is made with condoms.

Another friend, while traveling in Italy, had locked the keys in the trunk of her car. When she asked for help, she was telling people that she painted a tree. Then whe was upset that no one would help her.
