I am getting a root canal this week. After it ends, I'm going to a holiday party a couple hours later. Will I be terribly drugged, or should it be ok?

You should be fine. I used to be a dental assistant and unless they are drugging you with a medication to relax you or putting you to sleep, there should not be any after effects. If you feel groggy or something, just rest abit. You will be fine. I myself have experienced this procedure with no ill effects. Enjoy your party and don't worry about it. As long as there are no complications you should be just fine. I've had 3 root canals (all which were not pleasureable), but you'll feel fine after the novacaine wears off.

You should be fine. I have had one and had no pain after mine or drugged feeling at all just a little numbness. If you have a good dentist you will do fine.. Have fun at the party..

Couple of Tylenol and you should be fine .It hurts more when it is happening,which isn't all that bad.You'll wince a couple of times as they saw through the root.

My hubby had one this summer. You should be okay, but you will want to avoid eating anything that has a firm or hard texture for a week. They aren't as bad as people say they are.

You should be ok...it's not as bad as some people make it out to be. Stay away from stick foods/candies because you will have a temp crown.

It will have worn off by then, but watch your alcohol intake.
