This is why you can not read the Bible literally but rather allegorically. The garment is the yoke of the Law upon every Jew. The sword is God's Word. He is saying that one must give up the Law for the Word of God.

Actually it was sell all you own.

Jesus said go out in the world with your coat and shoes and nothing in your pockets.

And, yes, carry a sword.

But remember, those who live by the sword, die by the sword, so don't draw unless you must and if you draw you be have true artisan skills and do your best not to hurt one blade of hair on your opponants head. Just put the fear of God into them!

Jesus was sending his people out into the world.
That means away from cities and towns, were wild animals dwelt. It means - go and live as alien residents in a foriegn land.
It means not sitting on your @ss (in one spot) for 40 years in a material church.
It means - go out into the wilderness where wild animals dwell.
It means - sell off all your stuff because you will never return here.
I think Thomas understood.
I don't know why I am waisting my time on you anymore.

Jesus is not sayting to get naked. you don't even care about what the bible says. you just get a kick out of ripping it apart. Why don't you try to study God's word seriously and see how He will open it up to you so you can understand it .

I don't know, but I certainly wouldn't want to fight with swords if I was naked... especially being a man.

Of course. God wants His followers to kick backside and take names. I always thought it was obvious from the Bible. I honestly don't get why so many tree-hugging so-called Christians completely miss the point and want to have some kind of love orgy.
