Put baby oil on his/her hair. Rub it in to the scalp. Wait a few minutes then wash the hair as usual with a mild baby shampoo. Comb lightly after washing or even in the tub. It may take a few times but it will eventually wash out.

Toddler Dandruff

A toddler is much to young to have dandruff, because the oil glands in their hair are not as active as a teenager or an adult,(But) a toddler can have "Eczema" in the scalp, which causes flaking and looks like dandruff. Some toddlers keep "Cradle Cap" in the scalp until they reach the age of 3. Your Pediatrician will tell you what it is,and prescribe a shampoo, just for kids. (In the meantime) don't use any oils or creams in the hair. This will make the matter worst. (Good Luck)

a toddler, assuming they are about 2+ years should be able to use a small amount of head and shoulders shampoo.
i'd use it once, see what happens, then maybe use it twice a week to keep the dandruff away.

take care.

Great answers by the others. Also, my pediatrician told me to use Nizoral... it cleared up the cradle cap (or what may appear to be dandruff) and her hair was clean and full of body.... It cost an extra buck more than the others but it works and is gentle and effect.

Good Luck.

Take the toddler to a dermatologist. The toddler may still be having cradle cap. The Dr. can per scribe some medicated shampoo or you could use baby oil on the kid and keep combing the hair. do this for a few weeks and it should go away.

When my kids heads get flaky occasionally, I will comb their hair during shampooing. I use a really fine toothed comb. It seems to help loosen the flakes and they rinse out fairly easily.
