Well I have been bitten a few times by dogs, but the worst bites I ever recieved were from an evil cat that attacked me so bad I had to go to the ER.
My husband however was attacked by a Dobi when he was little because the owners of the dog told him to take away the dogs food (while it was eating) so it would play with him. Well he did it and the dog took a chunk out of the back of his head. He still has the scars and is just now getting use to my cousins Dobi (she is the sweetest dog in the world) but is still deathly afraid of all other Dobis.

Get bitten on a daily basis during training, with protective equipment on. It still hurts and leaves black and blue marks and bruises. Have gotten bitten several times in the last 26 years of dealing with dogs. All of them hurt, and all of them require a visit to the emergency room. Better safe then sorry. As far as what another member said, that dogs do not bite without a reason and that she has never been bitten, it is only luck. And yes, dogs bit without a reason that we can discern. It could be something as stupid as touching the dog on his left paw when it 3 pm on Monday and the dog being an idiot without good nerves, lashes out and bites. I had gotten bitten by my patrol dog when I had him only about a week in the car. he did not like being touched in the tail area and he jumped in the front while i was parked in front of a residence. I was looking for a leash and he thought I was going to touch his tail when he turned and bit my forearm. Too bad for him. That dog was gone the next day. Getting bitten hurts any way you look at at it, and the bigger the dog the more the pain.

Shockingly, I have never been bitten by a dog that I can recall. I pretty much know how to read a dog's body language and when to back off. Everyone else I know has experienced a dog bite, though. One had to go to a hospital a few days later due to a nasty infection, but it was the guy's fault because he was abusing the dog and the dog went back after him! BTW, I have never seen someone be bitten by a dog unless there was a reason....a type of threat detected by the dog.

Yes, One morning I was awakened by my two dogs fighting, one was on my bed (lab-rest his sweet soul) at my feet the other on the floor, when I realized what was happening, I went to reach for my labs collar and being half asleep I ended up putting my arm in his mouth by mistake. ouch.
My dog, has also bitten my husband in the lip (7 sutures for that one). He has also been bitten pretty bad in the finger as well by a dog at work. We work with animals so there is always a concern for dog bites.
Merry Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year to you.

Yes, I was bitten on the hand by a chow. It was my friends dog he had gotten loose and i went to grab him by the collar and he bit right through the my hand. It hit the bone and snapped it in half. Then there was a piece of tendon or something hanging out of the bite hole... It was gross but I just stuffed it back in with my finger and went on with my day. Dog was up to date with all of his shots and i didnt press any charges cause i know it was my fault for trying to grab him.

Yes. When I was 4 years old, I reached down to pet my aunt's german shepherd.
The dog jumped up, and bit off my bottom lip. It was hanging only from the right corner, where a little flesh was still attached to my face! I was wearing a yellow sweatshirt and by the time we got to the hospital, my shirt was burgundy!
I was so scared and in so much pain that they had to wrap my body in gauze to get me to stay still so they could treat my wound!
It was the most horrible experience of my life! I love dogs, but to this day, I can not be around a German Shepherd without shaking!

I was bitten on the butt by a dog on my tenth birthday. It was very embarrassing showing the police!
He only grazed the skin. No major damage.

i have. and my bf has.
when he was little the neighbors dog got out (i think it was a shepherd) and bit his face. he has a puncture make scar on his cheek and nose
when i was about 12 or so, my dog was sitting in the shower (walk in kind, where she slept) and i needed to shower and she wouldnt move. i made the mistake of grabbing for her and she grabbed my hand and tore it up really badly. thankfully she knew she made a mistake right away and she was really sorry, my mom really wanted to get rid of her, but we had had her for about 5 years and i couldnt get rid of her.
