Chihuahua!!!!! I have had several different breeds of dogs through my life - but my Chi is the best. She is the most loving, sweetest, smartest dog that I have ever had. I have never seen a dog quite like them - they love their people!!!!:)

A Shih-Tzu. Not only are they prettier dogs, but they have better temperments and do not shake all the time. Shih-Tzus also have hair instead of fur, so they do not shed regularly. You must keep them groomed, but even a shaved Shih-Tzu is adorable! Shih-Tzu are hardy little dogs and can get along with everyone, from children to the elderly. I wouldn't want a chihuahua around children! They can get hurt so easily and will tend to nip if they feel threatened!

My parents have 4 shih tzu's they are good dogs.
They are better tempered then a chihuahua. As for grooming my parents groom them about once a month and they look fine.
But if you want them to be better around people take them out with you whenever you can when they are a puppy. Or they are going to take strange to people and bark and growl and such...
