could be true for some, but most are programmed to believe because the threat of hell is unthinkable, and so is the idea of being wrong. the ego does not like to be wrong.

Until I accepted that God wanted a personal relationship with me, nothing went right in my life. When I turned my life over to Christ, I have been blessed with such peace in my life, and I have had everything that I need.
To think I spent twenty years of my adult life fighting to make things turn out right, when all the time I could have put it in God's hands and everything would have been right from the start.
My decision had nothing to do with fear of going to Hell. It had to do with wanting things to go right on this earth. That desire caused me to turn everything over to God and His Son.
After that, I was called to ministry, and sharing the Bible has been the most fulfilling thing I have done in my life.

Christian religious figures, for the most part, are called into their service to God by God. I do not think that any clergy became clergy because they were "depraved" or "cruel." There's nothing cruel about what we do.

With the question being asked using the word "some" I suppose for "some" the answer may be yes.
I doubt it's that way for most, but for "some" perhaps that is true.

christianity is based on fear guilt and shame and its also built on lies so yeah christians think this way because they believe the lies there pastor or preist tells them but to be frank christians who judge others are the ones who really go to hell not the non believers because at least we dont want to know what is and isnt but to be our selves.

I can tell you that the main reason I was a Christian is because, as a child, I was threatened with hell, and it scared the crap out of me. Now that I'm older, I know it's all bunk. :)

No, not at all. Christians want you to go to Heaven, just like God does. But if you choose not to believe-that is your choice. And if by chance you do wind up in hell-just say " I don't believe it".

Nope its just a good way of controlling people and getting them to do what you want.
God told me that he is going to be angry with you if you do that.
So you better do what I say.
Love and blessings Don
