THERE ARE A FEW DIFFERENCES. FIRST, THE SCREEN IS DIFFERENT, PLASMA IS MADE WITH GLASS, WHILE LCD IS LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY. THAT MEANS PLASMA IS GOING TO REFLECT MORE LIGHT THAN LCD. PLASMA HAS A HIGHER CONTRAST RATIO AND BETTER COLOR AND COLOR MOVEMENT THAN LCD. PLASMA DOESN'T COME INV ANY SIZES SMALLER THAN 37 INCHES AND ARE USUALLY CHEAPER THAN LCD. PLASMA HAS A BETTER VIEWING ANGLE THAN LCD AND HAS GAS ON THE INSIDE, UNLIKE LCD, NO THE GASES CAN'T LEAK OUT UNLESS THE TV IS PUNCTURED OR LAYED DOWN FLAT, THEN THE GASES WILL GET WHERE THEY DON'T BELONG IN THE TV AND RUIN IT. LCD IS IN 720P FORMAT AND 1080P FORMAT, 1080P BEING THE BEST OF HD OUT RIGHT NOW. PLASMA IS EITHER ONLY 720P OR 1080i AND PLASMAS ARE BETTER FOR WATCHING SPORTS ON BECAUSE OF THE COLOR MOVEMENT AND THEY HAVE BETTER PICTURES AS WELL. THEY BOTH LAST ABOUT 60,000 HOURS AND ARE THIN AND WALL MOUNTABLE, PLASMA'S ARE JUST A LITTLE HEAVIER. ONE MORE THING, SONY DOESN'T MAKE PLASMAS.

If you play a game on plasmas, xbox ps3, nintendo, it can eventually burn into the screen and will be there permantely. They can also catch fire. Stick with lcd's
