Im interested in this girl, but am a bit nervous about asking her out anywhere cos we work together.
What i was thinking of doing was asking her closest friend at work (my friend aswell but very close to her - he's gay) if she has a boyfriend, and also to keep it quiet that i asked.
I know he wont keep the secret, and would mention it to her, it might make it a little easier to ask her out.??????
There is already this running joke that im her boyfriend, cos i stood up for her against an idiot at work, and we get on well. But im worried i may be made a fool of cos i took a joke for real. Even she mentions it, coming up to me mentioing whole b/f g/f joke. She even said she was my girl at a work party, but may have just been part of this joke. (its not a mean joke at me)
So yeah would it be good or bad me sorta spreading my own rumour, or should i just go to her and hope. Im not very confident on asking girls out but extremely confident on getting close, flirting and all that

Do you take breaks together? If so ask her if she would like to out after work for dinner or lunch, or ask her if she has plans for the weekend.
If you know that she has a hobby or interest start talking about them if you're truly interested in them.

Every joke is rooted in truth. So even though she may have been joking about being your girl, she at least likes you enough not to hurt your feelings if you asked her out and she says no.
Girls want guys that are strong and stand on their own. You'll lose that effect if you have to go through a friend of hers to find out about her. If you stood up for her, she appreciates it, no matter how small a deal.
Be nonchalant and ask her if she wants to grab coffee or a drink with you. Then just start finding out about her. Whatever you need to know, she'll tell you about.

Very bad idea! I was in the same position once and it did not work for me because I think the 'go-between' did not think it was a good idea.
I suggest you ask her bf status yourself. Perhaps during the next time she brings up the work bf/gf running joke. Or ask her alone without the gay friend around.

im going thru the same thing, except i dont work w/ them and her friend is a chick that likes me, not a gay guy....the gay guy will drop hints for u, if thats what u want. according to my experience, gay ppl can be blunt and very upfront...if u are tryin to keep it on the low, u might wanna hold on to ur idea..hey, things can be worse. i like a chick so much but shes my friends best friend, and her friend likes me but i dont like her, so my friend wont be any help. if anything, shes gonna make things harder.

i would be sure that her friend can keep it from her, but if he can keep the secret i think that it is a good idea. it will help you out and you can find things out about her that you can talk about if you all do get to go out sometime or help you pick a place that you know she will like

well if her friend cant keep a secret to save his life then i wouldnt ask him but if u think that it would be better for u then i would do it, but hey who knos wat could happen i would ask her friend so wat if he cant keep a secret!!
