We went into Iraq with an exit strategy that's still in place: hand it over to a stable Iraqi government. We just aren't there yet. Not surprising, as we still have troops in Germany and Japan, and they were still in "occupation mode" for years after the end of WW II, and neither of those countries posed the strategic post-war problems we'll have in Iraq and Afghanistan. Why is it that half of America seems completely ignorant of military matters and history?

We had a great plan in WW2, bomb the SOBs til they are dead or give up. Sadly we have forgotten that rule and now try to be nice and get our butts kicked over the long haul.
Iraq could be won very fast, surround sadr city and kill everyone there. Then al anbar province, surround it and kill everyone in it. Since we have proof the Saudis are supplying money to the Sunni as is Syria nuke them off the earth and then nuke IRan and then use our surplus unemployed to occupy those areas and get the oil flowing.

No matter how fancy they are phrased there are only two possible 'exit strategy's' for a war:
1) Victory
and
2) Defeat
In common usage whenever people start talking about 'exit strategy' they are really discussing option #2.

I am puzzle the way some Americans separate what happen to our nation, separate from what happens to them. If our president is successful that means the US is successful that means we all benefit. I don't understand why a group of people in this country have such a vested interest to see this president and our nation fail where does this self loathing come from?

The only 'exit strategy' that ever worked was to WIN THE WAR. We TRIED Cut-and-Run in Vietnam, and suffered our first EVER defeat. Shouldn't that tell us something?

I don't remember. How did we get out of WWII?
Oh, yeah. WE KICKED THEIR A**!!
Why can't we try that now. Just drop the bomb in the middle east. No more people=no more terrorists!! It worked for Japan, it'll work now!
