People are too stressed out to bother with something as old fashioned as manners and courtesy. It's sad that we've got to the stage where rudeness and aggression is the norm.
P.S. Nasty people don't think they're nasty, they justify their behaviour in their heads and convince themselves they're nice, so nobody will admit to being bad on here.

Heard of the radio station WIIFM. Whats in it for me. People are becomng more selfish, in part because of a distortion of "do unto others as I would have done to myself" mentality. This leads people to think why bother being good if everyone else is mean and WIIFM. This leads to a vicious cycle which is difficult to break.
Here is one solution - which I have a feeling was made into a movie. Give a little each day to someone who needs whatever you have (it doesn't have to be money, but that is a start. It could be time, or help, or encouragement, or whatever). But specify that it is a loan and not a gift, and should be repaid to someone else when it is needed.

There's still nice people out here. But being nice to people can be a back lash. I'm nice to so many people, but i swear they have something up their butts. I don't know if its because I'm a cashier and they just take it out on me or what. I help people at my store and they can get down right mean, they throw bags, receipts, and even merchandise at me.

At nearly midnight on Saturday, on Victoria Street in London, I saw a couple giving out bread and soup to the homeless. They are good people.
Not everyone is bad.

It's the Religious Right and Bush boy of the 21st century. Watch Fox News, they bash Democrats with every word they speak. Never talk of coming together.

I'm good, sometimes too good, and I'm nice to everyone, but it's hardly ever returned.
I never lie.
It's really surprising how many people are so mistrusting of someone who says that. I suppose they are not used to meeting someone that doesn't lie and don't know how to handle it.

Nice is no longer expected, and no longer thanked. A sort of apathy is more acceptable.
