If you are talking about heartworm preventative, you have to take them to the vet first.
The vet will first test them for heartworms, b/c if you give a heartworm positive dog the preventative, it can be fatal.
After the vet tests them, you can buy the preventaive at most online dog retailers. Try 1800petmeds.com. It's cheaper than the vet, and you can get it shipped to your home!
I have been told that overdosing is not a problem with this medicine. My vet routinely uses it in high doses to treat problems like mites and mange in dogs. But, to get your initial recommendation on amount to use, ask your vet.
Good luck!

If your puppies are 6 months or younger, your Vet will most likely start them on preventitive without a test due to the fact that it takes Heartworm larve about 6 moths to mature. Heartgard and Interceptor work great. Your Vet can dispense this to you, but you have to have a Doctor/Patient relationship prior to the Vet doing so. In one year your puppies will need to be tested for Heartworms AND then annually for the rest of their lives, Heartworm preventitive is good, but nothing is 100%!

particular, i wish i dont confuse you. it takes six months to tell if a canines has heatworms. whilst they are examined for heartworm they are searching for a definite age at which the worms are stepped forward. It takes 6 months to truly instruct that your canines has heartworms. it would desire to show up damaging now yet in six months they are able to come back up helpful. additionally heartworms is unfold by using misquitoes, and as quickly as the temp is above 50 tiers it is whilst they arrive out. Now protecting the canines on prevention is reducing the prospect of relatively getting the ailment. yet your canines must be examined each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Now i could use Intercepter which you get out of your vet and if by using uncommon threat your canines comes up helpful. the agency will pay to deal with your canines. additionally getting the pill on your canines is greater decrease priced that relatively treating your canines that could run as much as 500 money or greater. and each so often it may be to previous via handle. SORRY THAT that's long yet i wish THIS enables. PLEASE save YOUR canines ON HEARTWORM PREVENTION.

I would have them tested first prior to starting heartworm treatment. If they for some reason already have heartworms, it could kill them. After that, you can dose them yourself. I've been buying my frontline and heartworm protection from the company below. They're very reliable and very easy to work with as well as being a LOT cheaper than companies in the U.S. If you have questions, you can email them and you'll get intelligent answers and recomendations

Shannon is right. If you give heartworm medication to a dog that tests positive for heartworm, you can kill him.
I know the medication can be pricey, added to the cost of a vet visit and blood test, but it's really the only way.
Good luck.

heartworm prevention is a prescription medicatation. the label on all heartworm preventive states: "Caution: Federal (U.S.A.) law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian."
what this means is you would need to go to 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of veterinary school, pass the national board, and pass the state board where you live. unless you can accomplish all of the above requirments by the time those pups turned SIX WEEKS old, (this is the time they need to begin heartwom preventive, no exceptions) they need to be taken to a licensed veterinarian and receive proper care.
