Red - Live Wire
Black- Neutral
Green or no insulation- Earth

It is the Phase, neutral and the earth wire . Earth wire . While the earth wire is a wire connecting the ground to electrical equipments the phase wire is a hot wire carrying the current.

Neutral wire is a balancing wire and at times the neutral may not exist.

The outlet should have three different colored terminal screws: brass screws for black (hot) wires, silver screws for white (neutral) wires, and a green screw for the ground wire.
