My fiance are having a guitar soloist at our wedding/reception and we also were giving the option of having a duet with a violinist. ($275.00 for the first hour, $50.00 each additional hour) / musician.
That includes all travel expenses, etc.
For example, 2 hours of solo guitar would be $325.00, so a duo for the same amount of time would be $650.00, a trio $975.00, etc.

It depends on how many you want to have...2-3 is a good number for the ceremony and cocktail hour. If they are very experienced, then you're looking at 250-450 an hour. You might want to get a cello for the cocktail hour, in addition to a violin. As for the reception, you should stick with the feel of live music and get a 5-9 piece band. Prices for them range from 3-10k for the entire reception.

You may want to try theknot.com
My girlfriend paid the Philadelphia Orchestra $3,000 for the violinist for her cocktail hour which was like 2 hours.
It depends on the area and how "popular" the violinist is... you can probably get cheaper ones if you contact a school. I actually rode the train last month with a music student who said his school booked weddings for them so the students could make extra money.

I would recommend visiting online website such as www.weddinglenox.com , onewed.com, and weddingvendors.com. They have price comparison for the vendors (Caterers, Decorator DJ, videographer, florist, and photographer) you can choose.
One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that are too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.
The sites I provide above have an easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That saves me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price. I like weddinglenox the best as they have vendor matching functions.

I had a solo classical guitarist perform for the ceremony, 1 hour of the reception (lunch hour) and he had to leave but let us use his PA equipment for our dance music CD's. The total was $325.
