I heard from some friends that have loved ones home from Iraq that their next missions were to go to South Korea or Africa. this has been very recent. considering that the brits and italy etc...have already announced troop withdrawel in the spring and with the fact that many say more troops are needed in Iraq to win why would the Iraqi trained soldiers be deploying to these destinations?
wouldn't this be a good exit strategy for Bush to say we are needed elsewhere.

Troop rotations like that are completely normal for U.S. troops, though other countries' military tend to move units whole and don't move individuals from one unit to another. I'd read nothing into it. Since the end of the second war against Iraq (remember "Mission Accomplished") we've been in another bit of bother that's been somewhat mismanaged but so far isn't irremediably damaged. I'd also not get in a big hurry about "exit strategy," as we and others have done this before, and the time-line typically runs from ten to thirty years. Or we could just quit, but that would likely cause just as many problems.

There won't be a pullout of troops from Iraq unless something drastic happens to force such a thing. There are presently 14 permanent military bases in Iraq, built at great expense to American taxpayers. Iraq is also the home of the world's largest and most expensive foreign embassy with over 1000 employees, only 6 of which actually speak the local language.

No... It sounds like troop rotation to me. *shrug*

Keep in mind that Iraq and Afghanistan are not the only places we have troops deployed. We still have troops in South Korea (all these years after the Korean conflict) and Africa as well, and that pre-dates Iraq.

In my opinion, we are not going to Africa. Just because we wasted to much resources on Iraq. Also were having international relations problems with our so called allies. South Korea would not be too bad if N.Korea starts anything. But if China gets involved woth a military build up....Ya might want to start praying.

No we are not pulling out of IRAQ. In fact Bush is considering putting in a surge of troops so that we can effectivly get the job done quicker and hopefully pull out eventually.

Your quite misinformed.

Anyone going to Korea or Africa is going to go on Change of Station, not deployment.

Korea is being downsized. I deployed to Iraq from Korea. My Brigade did not go back. Within just a few years, the ROK will have complete control over all military operations within their own country.

Again, if you don't know, don't state it. Do a little research.
