Leviticus 11:4, 9-10,41-42 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.

9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.

10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

41 And every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth shall be an abomination; it shall not be eaten.

42 Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination.

Leviticus 13-20 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,

14 And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;

15 Every raven after his kind;

16 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckoo, and the hawk after his kind,

17 And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,

18 And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,

19 And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.

20 All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.

Leviticus 11:29-31 These also shall be unclean unto you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth; the weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise after his kind,

30 And the ferret, and the chameleon, and the lizard, and the snail, and the mole.

31 These are unclean to you among all that creep: whosoever doth touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even.

Leviticus 11:47 To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.

You can eat fish, and chicken. God just wants us to remain clean before Him. To eat any of those things that God considers an abomination would make us unclean to Him.

I think the human beings are allowed to enjoy the bountiness of nature. I think thats how it goes in the Holy Bible.

But lets looks at this way: Human beings evolved 5 million years ago. First tools mankinds ever used were to hunt animals. Mankind is part of the nature. Hence eating meat is something very natural.

Vegeterianism was first invented by religion, not by nature or evolution.

In the Garden of Eden, in Genesis 1:29, mankind was a vegetarian. It says Then God said, "Behold, (A)I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;
After the Flood of Noah, in Genesis 9:2-3...The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. 3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

If you want a Biblical answer------man ate only vegetation before the flood. After the flood, he was given the right to eat meat. Which is interesting to me------------the laws of what to eat and what not to eat did not come till Moses, I believe.

Man has dominon over all animals.

Some animals are not to be eaten, according to what God told Moses (pigs, shrimp, clams, etc.)

God seemed to favor Lamb and taught man to slaughter them as religious sacrifices in an effort to get man to not feel strange about killing sheep.

Mark 7:17-19
After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. "Are you so dull?" he asked. "Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him 'unclean'? For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body." In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean."

Here you go,

[016:115] He has forbidden you only Al-Maitah (meat of a dead animal), blood, the flesh of swine, and any animal which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than God (or has been slaughtered for idols or on which God's Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering). But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, and not transgressing, then, God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

I don't believe a person can be truly spiritual and eat other sentient beings. If people eat meat, they are holding themselves back in their spiritual development.

Nothing. All religious prohibition against meat are old health laws or the work of a rabid evangelist.
