What sort of paint is it? water based or solvent based?
Either way its most likely to late now to get it all out but you might try this. In both case you ll need to buy or hire a steam cleaner, .and also hire a wet and dry vacuum cleaner.
If its emulsion, then re wet the paint affected area with warm water and let it soak in.
If solvent based paint such as gloss then you need to wet the affected area again with but turpentine or thinners leave to soak in.
Once the paint has softened use the steam cleaner in conjunction with the wet and dry vacuum cleaner to work over the area until the paint lifts from the flooring..
Do not be tempted to scrub with scrubbing brush has this will have the effect of spreading paint around.

I'm not sure I'd use paint thinner, as it will do just that. Rather than remove it, it will just spread it out a little more in a pale kind of manner.
Your best bet is a wire or firm brush of some description. As long as you take your time and do not wear a hole in to your carpet the wires/fibers should break up the paint slowly so you can pick little bits off with out doing any damage. Then hoover the offending area for all you are worth!
NB***Make sure the paint is totally dry before you try this method!

If you get a carpet cleaner that is supposed to sit on your carpet for a while before you start to scrub usually does the trick. Fast instant carpet cleaners never seem to get out all of the stain. I hope this helps! Happy Holidays!

Try White spirit or thinners you can buy this from wilkos, focus homebase etc etc...
i'd suggest you don't rub the paint but blot and dab with a clean rag it will take longer but should'nt take the colour out of the carpet.
Good luck.

dont use soap and water as it will spread the paint further out - use fabreeze - that usually clears it out.
