Let's do a little physics.
If you apply a force (to break a piece off) at the apex of the Toblerone triangle, then the chocolate will exert an equal force on your finger. Isaac Newton said that a few hundred years ago. The pressure exerted on your hand will be high, as the area of contact is small. Hence you feel the hurt.
Mind you, what I have said above is solid physics... but highly exaggerated. The pressure shouldn't be so great as to hurt your fingers. Maybe if its straight out of deep freeze, let it "thaw" for 10 minutes before breaking the piece off. Then you would exert a lesser force, the pressure will be lesser , and so too will be the hurt.
There's a free physics lesson for you. :-)

Being in the fridge for a day or two shouldn't be the caused of your hurting fingers. I guess its the way you broke those chocolates.

Yea I agree it is hard trying to squeeze your fingers into such a small gap and then to prise the bits apart before they eventually snap under the pressure!
